STERLING, Va., Jan. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeuStar, Inc. announced today that it has appointed Lisa Hook as president and chief operating officer. In her new role, Ms. Hook will be responsible for leading NeuStar's operations as they continue to grow and expand worldwide. Hook succeeds Larry Bouman, a long-time advisor to NeuStar, who served as the company's chief operating officer since early 2007.
"Lisa is the ideal leader," said Jeff Ganek, chairman and chief executive officer at NeuStar. "She's a growth specialist. She brings to NeuStar rich experience in advanced IP services, iPhone accessories , and her experience in voice and wireless telecommunications is rich. Bouman will continue as a senior advisor to NeuStar management, as planned, supporting the transition of business responsibilities and technical operations to Hook, and assisting with technology integration. "Larry is one of the great executives in the industry," said Ganek. "Since NeuStar's inception, he has been a pillar supporting our growth and success."
Ms. Hook spent the majority of her career at AOL and Time Warner in a variety of executive-level posts, including president of AOL Broadband, Premium and Developer Services, AOL Anywhere, and AOL Mobile franchises, and chief operating officer of Time Warner Telecom. Ms. Hook has also been partner at Brera Capital Partners LLC, and managing director at Alpine Capital Group LLC. In addition, she served as legal adviser to the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and was senior attorney at Viacom. Prior to joining NeuStar, Ms. Hook spent a year as president and chief executive officer of SunRocket, Inc., a Virginia-based voice over IP (VoIP) service provider.
Ms. Hook holds a bachelor's degree from Duke University and a J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University.

U.S. International Trade Commission rules in favor of NokiaNew York, NY, USA - Nokia announced today that a United States International Trade Commission (ITC) judge issued an Initial Determination in favour of Nokia in the action brought by InterDigital against Nokia. The case, filed by InterDigital, alleged that Nokia infringed four patents that InterDigital asserts to be essential for the UMTS (3G) mobile standard. The judge found that there is no infringement of the four alleged patents and therefore, Nokia is not in violation of section 337 of the Tariff Act. LG Reduces Greenhouse Gases by Over 2M Tons in First Half Seoul, Korea / July 21, 2009 - LG Electronics announced that the company has successfully reduced 2.1 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions in the first half of 2009, two million tons through greater energy efficiency and an additional 100,000 tons through improved manufacturing processes. Overall, LG saw a reduction of about seven and five percent in greenhouse gas emissions from the production and operation of its products across both domestic and overseas facilities. The environmental impact of having reduced emissions by 2.1 million tons is equivalent to planting 700 million new pine trees, large enough to cover an area four times the size of Korea’s capital, Seoul (605 km2). |

NOKIA Nokia's Symbian Professional Services to be acquired by Accenture Espoo, Finland - New York, United States- Nokia and Accenture have entered into an agreement for Accenture to acquire Nokia's Symbian Professional Services unit responsible for Symbian OS customer engineering and customer support. The unit provides engineering consulting and product development services on a global basis to mobile phone manufacturers, as well as chip manufacturers and mobile operators. Services provided by the Symbian Professional Services teams include advanced technical support, techniques for enhancing performance, memory, and power, advanced error diagnosis and repair, and turnkey software development services that can be used in a range of technical environments. Approximately 165 people will transfer to Accenture as a result of the agreement. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close by the end of third quarter 2009. |
